The work
Where ideas
meet reality.
Investment and ownership have offered two views of the same question: what deserves commitment, and what is required once it receives it.
The investment perspective was shaped as much by operating as by analysis.
Technical training made underlying systems legible; institutional strategy made scale and consequence visible. Running a vineyard and a hotel added the details that rarely survive a presentation: people, timing, place, taste and the steady work of delivery.
That combination informs a long view of companies and cultural ventures alike. The interest is less in novelty for its own sake than in ideas with enough integrity to become durable.
Château Maris
Château Maris grew from a group of properties in the Languedoc into an estate with a distinct character of its own. As co-owner and creative director, Ulla worked across the vineyard's identity, hospitality and relationship to place—the less visible choices through which an estate becomes coherent.
François Plantation
At François Plantation — the St. Barthélemy hotel she owned and operated for twelve years — she brought Pierre Gagnaire, one of the world's most decorated chefs, to lead the kitchen.
The collaboration placed one of contemporary cuisine's most distinctive voices inside an intimate hotel, where the restaurant could shape the experience of the place rather than sit apart from it.
